Size isn't everything. This small East Village one-bedroom makes it easy to overlook the square footage and focus instead on all the bewitching details like the marble fireplace, wide plank wood floors and skylight windows. We haven't even gotten to the private terrace on the roof yet which the realtor suggests could be described by Ralph Waldo Emerson as "A secret nook in a pleasant land."

Details:

  • 111 East 10th St., #12
  • Located in the East Village, Manhattan, New York City
  • $875,000
  • 1 bed, 1 bath, private rooftop terrace

Things We Love About This Property Crush:

The physical charms of this home extend beyond the front doors as it's located on one of the prettiest blocks in the East Village (part of the landmarked St. Mark's Historic district) and is part of a 29-unit collection of apartments in six 19th century townhouses.

The residences enjoy a common garden which, according to the realtor is "so quiet you will awake to morning birdsong and fall asleep to the sound of the tranquil garden fountain."

The top floor apartment boasts 14 foot (beamed!) ceilings and enjoys plenty of light via the dramatic skylights.

The bedroom (13' x 7'2") and living room (15'11" x 12'8") are small for sure but in nice weather, the large roof terrace is where I'd spend my time. The current owner has clearly invested a lot of energy into the gorgeous outdoor space including automated watering and lighting systems.
