Look at how this tiny studio's spaces are defined not by walls but by storage. Precisely-crafted millwork carves an entry, kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom from the limited space of this East Village studio. The result is plenty of storage and a feeling of openness:
The compact kitchen is full of cabinets and the stairs up to the sleeping loft double as dresser drawers. With all of this storage stashed away, the main space of the apartment is freed up for being open and light.

Commercial Flour Sa...
haha throndale, i was thinking the exact same thing!
Also, while it's lovely and clean-lined, I don't know if I'd want my bed to be placed there. The pain from falling 10 steps to the floor from the bed is not what I'd be looking forward to. I move around too much.
This is a fantastic use of space. I love how they created little rooms within such a long and narrow footprint, and it doesn't feel claustrophobic. Truly beautiful work.
I absolutely love it. It's too bad that to get that level of boat-like "everything in its place" perfection, you have to have everything custom made, and not many can afford it. But that is the way to do a studio, for sure.
"The pain from falling 10 steps to the floor from the bed is not what I'd be looking forward to. I move around too much."
…especially with a cactus plant at the bottom… Eeek!
This is beautiful though, despite not being a huge fan of lighter woods.
I wish my ceiling were high enough for the sleeping alcove!
Certainly a very creative use of space. Not sure I'd like my clothes underfoot like that but it is a clever idea.
I love it. For me to live in that space, I'd need to do some serious downsizing of "stuff". I think it would be quite refreshing to live so simplistically, in such a cozy space.
I really like it, but I have to ask.
Considering the kitchen has massive counterspace (considering the size the studio) where do people eat? I didn't see a fold-out table anywhere. Is every meal taken on the couch?
Genius use of space!
This is more or less exactly my aesthetic, except I like to have more pops of color. But I love to have rooms grounded in white and light wood tones. The only thing I don't like is the left side upper cabinets in the kitchen. They just seem really low for such a narrow space. I don't know what they are storing up there, but I think it would have been nice to have those cabinets be a good 12inches shorter than they are.
That is one sexy studio. The kitchen and bathroom are fabulous.
I'd be afraid of falling out of bed too.
Does one need to reinforce the stairs to build drawers into them, or would that be feasible in any staircase?
I love the woodwork and cabinetry, this is a fantastically engineered space. I don't know that I could live there, but I could feel very comfortable visiting.
I LOVE the bathroom. Curious where is the toilet situated.
great job.
i think that there's some more to see? a separate bedroom area for the adults if that is a teenager i see who sleeps in the alcove? is there a fold-out table hiding somewhere? dying of curiosity to see what's behind the entertainment center...love me some custom made anything. more please.
Nicely done. Personally, I would have opted for a 24" range and an 18" dishwasher for such a small space. Speaking of the range (which looks quasi-commercial), it's a bit overkill considering there's no vent.
Where do they eat? I don't see a dining table . . .
