I love citrus — namely clementines — and was so excited to buy my first crate of the season at the grocery store this past week. Curious how I could make the most of their cheeriness and beautiful fragrance, I searched for some easy and festive DIY citrus craft projects. I'm excited to try my first simmer pot, and to craft some handmade garland for my holiday gifts.

1. Make A Simmer Pot, Recipe from Katie Searle-Williams for Kinfolk: simmer citrus peels, herbs and spices on the stovetop to make your home smell cozy all winter long.

2. Orange Peel Garland, DIY from Spoons and Roses: string dried orange peel stars together to make a pretty garland. How sweet would be this garland be tied around brown kraft paper for holiday gift wrap?

3. Clementine Candles With Cloves, DIY from 17 Apart: Apartment Therapy reader Mary embellished Maxwell's clementine candle tutorial by adding dried cloves.

4. Homemade Citrus Ornaments, DIY from Whole Foods: all citrus fruits work, so use a few different kinds for a variety of colors and sizes. You can also string the slices together with leaves and pinecones to make festive garland for your mantel.

5. Winter Citrus Wreath, DIY from Design Sponge: weave together winter greens and fruits into a fabulous and fragrant winter wreath.
