In the world of paper shredders, there are those who really need one and those who only have a few light documents to dispose of. If you're in the latter category, then this hand-powered unit might be just what you're looking for.
To make the unit work, the ends are simply twisted back and forth and the paper is pulled through and shredded along the way. There are no batteries, cords or buttons to hassle with; just twist and go and you're all set. It's perfect if you only have an occasional bill to shred.
You can find it over at Uncommon Goods for $24 which is slightly less than this smaller handheld (yet still electronic) paper shredder.

White Enamel Four-P...
Ummmm, I think you mean Human 'Powered',
not 'Powdered'.
LOL, good catch laffcat.
Powdered would be better though, doesn't look like fine enough shreds to effectively destroy sensitive documents.
Ugh, it looks overpriced and ultra breakable. I'd rather invest in a non plastic one that will last for generations. Staples makes a metal one for $34 bucks.
If one's need to shred is so rare that it makes sense to spend a minute twisting this thing, how does it not make just as much sense to whip out a pair of pinking shears and listen to the therapeutic snip snip snip?
It seems like a useless niche gadget, to me.
i wouldn't use it for sensitive documents...which is all i ever shred. crosscut shredding is far more preferable. :)
Good idea, poor execution? I've had a hand-cranked shredder for a few years, but its handle recently broke, and I don't think it's going to be fixable. It's a shame, I liked it a lot- compact, no need to find an outlet for it, quick.
