Rick Roberts- If you're anywhere near a Chinatown these figurines are commonly sold in stores that sell both decorative and household wares. In CA the bigger Ranch 99 supermarkets sell them too.
Pearl River online has various ones but not exactly the same as the one in the picture.

Awesome inspiration. I'm doing the exact same thing with slipping the cards into a mirror frame.
The tiny, vintage ornaments are lovely. And those round glass vases are so cheap at a flower wholesale outlet!
