Although I've tried every lotion, potion and powder (eco-friendly and not) over my years on this earth, my sneakers have always suffered from a serious case of the stinkies. I pretty much live in them, but no one wants smelly shoes, even if they've seen some serious action! After re-reading this past post of Maxwell's
, it dawned on me: if the freezer works for pants, why not shoes, too? Sure enough, 24 hours after my shoes went into our chest freezer, they came out (and came to room temperature), the smellies were gone! The bacteria had chilled out and gone away and I was good to go for more romping and tromping through the neighborhood with my dogs and set for some serious gym time.
After all the years of dumping box after box of baking soda in them, or buying special inserts, all it took was a cold shoulder to get them to come around! Give it a try in your household next time you find a smelly culprit. (And this should go without saying, but make sure to place them in a plastic bag before mingling them with your secret stash of summer corn!)
