Whether you're comfortable creating your own artwork or not, we found a super simple DIY project that can be created in under an hour and would look great in any livingroom, playroom or bedroom. Details after the jump.
We came across this great livingroom/playroom over at the Flor Board (Flor's play on words blog). It's a great space and although we should have been focused on the super stripey rug, our eyes were on the wall art.
Canvases are one of those things that if you're willing to wait for a sale at your local craft/hobby store, you can get them at a really great price. Typically the thicker the canvas is the pricier it is, but with the holidays here, we've seen bulk pack thinner canvases at 10 for $20, which at $2 a canvas, is a pretty great deal for your own wall of artwork.
You can either cut the letters out of fabric or paper and glue/decoupage them on, or use a stencil to paint the letters onto the canvas. You don't even have to make a whole alphabet, or spell out an actual words, just have a large grouping of letters that make a bold statement, look great in a space that's soon to be filled with train sets and lego pieces! You could try out numbers or even punctuation for older children!
How would you create the letters shown above? Leave us your own inspirational thoughts in the comments below!

The canvas letters are fine, but I LOVE the room. It just looks so friendly and cozy and functional, and the little repeated pops of color here and there are perfect.
Hey! That's my playroom! Very cool to see it up here. My friends are impressed.
Here's a link to the how-to on those canvas letters. I used a Cricut machine with SCAL software for a perfect cut.

Now that's cool to find your very own playroom on Ohdeedoh!!! Loving it!!!
ErinMichele - Thanks for saying hi! It's always awesome to see the hardwork of our Ohdeedoh readers, even if we saw it somewhere else first.
If you'd like to work with us for a full tour email me at sarahrae@apartmenttherapy.com we'd love to see more!
I love the room, and the artwork. I think what makes the artwork so great is that it echoes the colors of other elements of the room: the rug, items on the shelves, etc. Very well coordinated, without matching too much. Well done!
LOVE the room!! Any chance of a tour?
