Turquoise, one of this year's hot trends, is a colour we love but the idea of painting an entire room turquoise? Not so much. But then we saw this recent house tour and we had an "a-ha!" moment.
Of course! Instead of painting an entire room, we can just paint the window frames. Even if your own home's window frames cannot compare to Karthik's ornate and graceful ones, with a little paint they can give a room a quick and easy update.
Here's another example with a window frame painted, complementing the drawers painted the same colour in the sewing room/library from Gregory & Emily's Silver Lake Sanctuary.

Just a few days ago I went to see a house thats for sale. It had all the requierments I'm looking for. Bur It has bright turquise, dark purple and black window and door frames. For me, it is a deal breaker as stripping, sanding and painting window frames is as much fun as toothache. All those nooks and crannies and weird angles and so makes me say no! I'd rather paint a wall anyday.........
hmmm... interesting. I have to do window frames (and door frame, and some closet doors) this spring in our bedroom (current orange wood is NOT working for me). I love the idea of imparting some color, but I can't imagine it's going to be a 'fun' job, and I'm too scared that if I tire of it or don't like it, it'd be a nightmare...
i am in the process of painting my den to be used as a rec room. we are just the second owners of our 1955 home so almost everything is original, including all of the interior wooden window shutters, i have taken most of them down in other rooms, but i was considering spray painting the ones for the rec room bright turquoise. i think now that i see the turquoise next to the white walls, i definately want to!!!
EASY Update? Painting window trim is never easy and if you want to change the color, stripping it or living with the paint buildup is challenging. If it's a simple window, go for it, but I would think long and hard before painting a window as elaborate as the first one.
