Lucite trunk with brass trim. I half-expect a scantily-clad magician's assistant to emerge from this chest, which would make a stunning coffee table. Visual weightlessness and glamour don't often hand in hand like this.

Thirties bent-walnut coffee table. It's unmarked, but the seller claims it's Gilbert Rohde. Although it's a handsome piece, the asking price is high. Make an offer instead.

Globo shelf from Hamburg. Shipping to the United States is surprisingly reasonable. These shelves, which are available in brown, off-white, and orange, can hold up to 80 CD's. I like how they mirror the look of speakers.

Restoration Hardware leather club chair. This two-year-old chair, located in San Francisco, is generously proportioned, and I think the slight scuffing adds to its charm. It retailed for $1400, but it should sell for less than $500.
