In an effort to reduce its carbon footprint, eBay has just announced that they plan to release a 100% FSC-certified reusable shipping box this October. In its pilot program, eBay plans to send out 100,000 boxes to anyone who requests them. You can report the status of your box and even track it across the world until it eventually disintegrates. eBay has said that "if every box gets reused at least five times, we could protect nearly 4,000 trees, save 2.4 million gallons of water and conserve enough energy to power 49 homes for a year."

This new box won thee grand prize at eBay's annual Innovation Expo, which celebrates creative ideas from eBay employees. We hope the program proves to be very successful!
