It can be sad when someone's garage is cooler than your entire house, but the care owners Susan and Jim Sproull took to minimize the structure's impact on the environment makes up for the fact in karma points.

The wraparound polycarbonate panels admits tons of light, cutting down on energy use; the roof is a green roof with four inches of soil; insulation is recycled newspaper; and heating is infrared, which means objects and people get warm but the air does not (the garage is used as a woodworking shop by Jim).

I love the polycarbonate. My dream would be a cellar door and roof hatch of polycarbonate, but it's probably against the fire code.
You know what's an extra eco-savvy garage?
One with no car in it.
