Name(s): Edie (23 months) and Tommy (4 months)
Location: Portland, OR
Division: Shared Room
Room Size: 95 square feet

Tip for Living Small with Kids: Be selective with the contents and rotate toys and books. Edie and Tommy's room is indicative of the sized rooms throughout our house which means their room is used to play in as well as sleep in. I try to keep the toys and books accessible by putting dress-up clothes in a suitcase, and toys on the bookshelf or in tub trugs. I love the pop of colour toys bring to their white room, and it means we can switch things out when we need a change.

Biggest Design Challenge in this Room: Creating a layout where there's a play space, reading area and changing mat and staying gender neutral. Their white room is an extension of our house decor, but we obviously wanted it to be child friendly, not sterile looking.

Favorite Thing About This Room: The rug! My husband was originally horrified at the thought of a cow hide in a baby room, but that rug endures some gnarly baby stuff. I also love the fact that it breaks up the angles in the room with its soft lines.
