We always have our eyes open for interesting iPod speaker docks, so when we spotted the unique rounded look of the Edifier iF500 Luna5 Encore we just knew we had to blog about it. Edifier, the company that brought us the fun retro styled iPod alarm clock, the iF200 plus, is bringing more curves to the iPod speaker market with the iF 500.
With a small footprint and an elegant design, the iF500 is an all-in-one audio system for iPod, iPhone and MP3 players. The device uses a 5 driver speaker system that incorporates unique vibration and resonance control technologies coupled with low frequency porting and mid-range tuned cavities for smoother cleaner audio. We love the finish of the device in white and think it would make quite an elegant addition to our dining room.
Available in white or black, the device retails for $246.98.

Haven't seen this one in the stores yet, but I tried a slew of iPod docks last week at the Apple store here in San Francisco, and frankly they're all a rip-off. Even the huge, expensive Bose unit sounded like garbage. The best-sounding system there, by far, was harman/kardon's Sound Sticks. They also happened to be about the cheapest, even after you threw in an extra $50 or whatever for one of Apples ridiculously overpriced standalone iPod docks with an audio out.
