Just 48 hours ago we were talking about how much energy computers really use and whether or not a green PC is worth the investment. Well, now we have some answers and an alternative.

Over at EcoGeek, we just came across Edison, free software that allows the user to program their PC to go into sleep mode at appropriate times. It also allows the user to see how much energy and money they're saving by using the software.

Also, EcoGeek gives us an answer we've been looking for: "PCs can be responsible for as much as 10% of a home's energy bill, and one estimate places Verdiem's software as saving about 410 kilowatt hours a year, which translates to a few bucks a month..."
