I needed some warming colors to compensate for my foggy Cole Valley neighborhood so I went with pale pinkish walls paired with boldly colored artwork and jewel toned accents. I used mahogany furniture with white bedding and rugs to soften the bright colors. Adding an inherited crystal chandelier, mirrored bedside lamps and a reflective IKEA dresser keeps the turreted room from feeling gloomy on foggy days.
Colors used in my room:
Behr "Quartz Pink" walls, lavender and white bedding with magenta and orange accents.
Tips for using color successfully:
Don't be afraid to go bold with solid colors inspired by nature or artwork. Start small by adding color accents that aren't a big financial or permanent commitment and mix in lots of white, warm woods, and plants to keep it looking natural.
