What I Love About My Small Home:
The original windows that provide one of the best views in Manhattan! The sunsets all year round are magnificent. My bight and airy subway-tiled kitchen and window sitting area. Also, the character of living in an historic Manhattan building in the heart of the East Village. Walking out the front door into Tompkins Park.
Three of My Best Tips and Tricks for Creating a Successful Small Space::
Measure everything! Moving into this not even 400 square foot gem was a challenge. I was convinced I wouldn't be able to have any full sized furniture. Bringing a measuring tape with me every time I looked at furniture was the only way to go. Another good tip is to have a style in mind. Decorating any apartment is difficult but I had a very specific feel that I wanted my new place to exude, it was a cross between country kitchen and Mad Men living. Finally, be smart with shelving and storage! The kitchen was my biggest challenge as most of my "things" are colorful Le Creuset baking dishes and a beautiful set of All-Clad pots and pans...I have worked in the culinary world for nearly 10 years. They are all things I need to have quick access to and wanted to display at the same time. A couple trips to Home Depot, a couple cans of spray paint and one handy friend and I was able to more than double my kitchen storage!
