The Electrolux Calima improves upon something many of us do after washing our delicate cashmere, silk or intimates: dry them ontop of a warm temp dryer. But instead, the Calima is a full fledged washer with 1,400 RPM spin speed, LCD display and most notably comes equipped with a slide out perforated tray that directs warm air to gently dry your wool Cosby sweater, that silk piano keyboard tie, or whatever else piece that should be handled with care. Our question is why isn't this integrated with a dryer instead, reusing excess heat during a drying cycle?
The Calima comes equipped with programs specially tuned to handle delicates, wool, cotton, synthetic, delicate, easy ironing, jeans, lingerie, silk, hand wash items, sportswear and an "Ecowash" setting; the washer can even be tuned to the amount of actual soiling to increase/decrease wash time. The Electrolux Calima will retail for about $912, but will unlikely be released here in the U.S. despite our need for more energy efficient appliances.
