This image of a kid's workstation by elfa grabbed our attention when it cropped up on a friend's Pinterest board. We love the colors and styling, but most of all, we love the idea of using elfa beyond the closet.
The easily reconfigured system can truly adapt to a child's changing size and needs. Renters can accomplish the look and feel of built-ins without the permanence or commitment; when it's time to move, elfa can move too, leaving only the screw holes from the rails. See this system and many more at The Container Store, and check out those chairs, available in pink, white, orange and blue at $9.99 each.

Love the look. I think one key is having matchy-matchy containers clustered on the shelves. I have a bad habit of buying a box here, a box there, different colors, textures, and sizes. Too mixed up. This picture is inspiring.
Thank you for this photo! The former owners of our house installed the elfa system on a wall in the basement. We were just talking about finally fixing up the basement and creating a playroom for my toddler and her sibling (due this summer). Now, instead of taking the elfa down - it's staying up and will be reconfigured for child's play. Now I just need to focus on: walls, flooring, window treatments, and matching containers. (GoStanford - I completely agree. They just look better when they match.)
Thanks again for the inspiration!
