Eli's Fab Former Catch-All

My Room

Name: Eli (1 month)
Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota

Previously, my son's nursery had been used as a bit of a "catch-all" - storing anything we didn't have a place for. When my husband and I found out I was pregnant, we quickly purged the room to transform it into a fun, happy and colorful nursery for our son.

A neutral backdrop provides a base for lots of color to shine in such a small room (8'.5" x 9') and we tried to select rich, saturated colors to accent the larger neutral pieces.

Over time, the room began to have a subtle animal theme as I was sourcing items, such as the fox knobs from Anthropology, art from Etsy and the prints from the Animal Print Shop over the crib. Most of the room was DIY'd, including the Ikea Hemnes dresser hack (painted in Graphite Annie Sloan Chalk Paint) the Rit dyed Ikea Ritva curtains with added blackout lining, and the mobile made from clearanced Christmas ornaments and felt balls.

The room was truly a labor of love for my husband and I, and was a huge part of us getting excited for our little boy. We love having such a special, playful and joyful place in our home!

Thanks, Laura! Readers, check out more of Eli's lovely room at Oakland Avenue.
