It feels like January went really quickly this year. I just got my Christmas tree down, and already the 2014 January Cure is wrapping up. Should I be getting ready for Valentine's Day already?
The last step for the Cure is having people over. Honestly, that always makes me the most nervous. My house does not tend to be "company ready," and I can mess it up faster than any rational human being would imagine. But now I have a new rug and new lamps and my living room finally looks like a real room, and if people don't come over nobody will ever know about it.
We don't know a ton of people here, so it will be a small group. Luckily the year has given us a built-in reason to celebrate. This year Spring Festival falls on January 31, so we are celebrating with dumplings. Lots of dumplings.
I still don't have a space where people can sit down at a table for dinner, but I have surfaces where things can be served buffet-style. And finally there's enough light in the house that it's not embarrassing to have people over after dark.
