- Inspiration for my palette:
- my love of coffee and dark, cozy spaces. My bedroom has 3 windows, so it gets plenty of light. Using a dark color grounds the whole room. It makes the furniture and accessories stand out. Putting a masculine color on the walls keeps my feminine collections (floral plates & milk glass) and fabrics from being too sweet. The balance is perfect for a room shared by my husband and I.
- Colors used in my room
- java float-a dark brownish black, accents of orange, turquoise and white
- Tips for using color successfully
- I think bold color is often more successful in a room where you can close the door. If you have an open floor plan, than I like to pick one room to use a dramatic color and keep the rest calm. I like my colors to be muddied. Nothing too bright. If you can find it in nature, most likely, it will look good on the wall.

I love the dark color against the white bed! The room seems so soft and comfy!
I'm personally not a huge fan of the fabric on the chair, but that's really just personal opinion. I think I'd like it more without the empty frame - something else lighter to balance that corner might be nice. (That said, I'd personally never put a chair in my bedroom on purpose again - it seems to be an excuse to put once-worn clothing on it, and then you never see it again...)
I love the brown with the pops of orange. Very nice!
Decorative plates in the bedroom.
Hmm.
Love the double sinks and lighting in the en suite bathroom!
There are a lot of things I love about this room, but JaRichtig, I was thinking the same thing. Plates in a bedroom don't make much sense. LOVE the gold frame on the wall.
It's beautiful.
Adorable! I LOVE the plates in the bedroom!
I love the plates too! My husband's family owned a china shop, and we have a ton of random plate samples. This is a fabulous idea of how to display them in a fun way
Beautiful. I have favorited you.
I like the idea of hanging plates as artwork. And, tucked away in a bedroom, you run less risk of guests/visitors/children accidentally damaging them :)
Love the wall of plates. Gives me motivation to get my collection hung up.
