We live in South Philadelphia - one of the most densely populated and treeless neighborhoods of the city. We thought since our daughter will already spend most of her time in an urban environment, we would make her nursery a quiet woodland retreat.

I love spending time with her in this room. It's our peaceful forest in the concrete jungle of Philadelphia. My hope is that it will help give our little city girl an interest in nature as she grows older.

Almost every piece of furniture is vintage - mostly from my grandmother who happened to be selling her house at the time. My artistically talented sister painted the birch tree mural. The felt owl on the wall is by a local Philadelphia artist and crafter Yvonne Valenza. Her Etsy website can be found here. I originally wanted to hang a picture above the crib, but then became nervous about anything that could fall on her. The felt owl was a safer, cozier option.

I purchased the IKEA RASKOG cart for organizing changing-table essentials and extra animal friends after reading the Apartment Therapy post, How To Use the $50 IKEA RÅSKOG Cart in Every Room of the House.

Thanks, Diana!
