Name: Elizabeth
Location: Austin, Texas
We just moved to Austin from Los Angeles and have had a really fun time decorating our space — around 1,200 square feet. I work from home, so I wanted a space that is inspiring, bright, and clean.
We are renting an apartment, in a newly constructed building, in downtown Austin. It is a big change from our old building in West Hollywood that was built in the 1960's. I enjoyed working with the modern lines, flooring, and fixtures while incorporating my love for vintage finds.
The biggest problem was my office because there are no windows! I decided to paint it a light gray, find a few bright-yet-stylish light fixtures, and use all white furniture. Overall it has been a really great experience!
Thanks Elizabeth!

Geez, where are the pictures, guys???
Love it! Want to see more.
Painting that gallery wall (or any other wall) an accent color would add a little more interest. The overall look appears a little sterile to me.
Wow! Can you decorate my next apartment please!?!? I especially like the picture wall - seems really intriguing and unique.
I'd really like to see more.
Does look nice....u should do a tour
Love it! Especially the dark grey paint in the alcove bar.
Hi Elizabeth,
I am a local designer in Austin and I have a wealth of known resources in Austin. Let me know if you need some design assistance. Find me at allisonjaffe.com Good luck with all!
Where is the case piece in the 4th photo from?
looks like a library case for microfiche?
For once it's the other end of the spectrum -not enough pics! I think only house tours done by AT warrant 50 photos -the reader submissions only get 4 or 5. I love the clean modern lines. The pendants over the island & the built in bar area above the counter are fabulous!
I really like the area rugs you have used. Please do share where that diamond patterned rug in the picture with the vintage metal shelving unit is from!
Wow! In general, I am not a fan of the open-plan kitchen-living room (which I am inferring from the first photo), but boy howdy, does that dark colored, recessed bar plus the dark counter top make for a demarcated space. Lovely!
Thank you for all of the sweet comments! To answer a few questions...
1. I would love to do a full home tour, I hope to be able to submit more photos. It was hard picking 5!
2. The piece in picture 4 is vintage. It was a great find and was used in an old doctors office. The company that made it is called Cole-Steel.
3. The patterned runner in picture 4 is from West Elm and the brown leather shag rug is vintage.
It's a lovely space, but you talk about the office, so I was curious to see a pic of it. I agree with the other commenters, even for these shorter pieces, I think a few more photos are warranted!
