- What I Love About My Small Home:
- This home is modern, yet cozy, crisp, yet comfortable! I love the painted wall. It hides the closet doors and makes a striking impression.
- Biggest Challenge of Living in a Small Space
- Clutter/storage is always a challenge for a small space. I had to incorporate furniture to do multiple tasks. The desk area can be used as a dining table, the media stand holds clothes. The sofa converts to a chaise, or a bed. The artwork in the kitchen is a dry erase/message board.

This reminds me of a hotel......................and I would not want to leave! Lucky you.............great decorating:)
Where is the silver table/desk from? I've been looking for something JUST like that. Room looks great!
Beautifully staged, but it doesn't look like anyone actually lives here or owns anything other than wall art.
It is very mod-hotel. Love it!
Great job nice seeing you bloom with your work!
Agree with Keira. It's a beautiful apartment, space very well utilized, modern, and the painted wall is a great resource both visually and practical. But it's missing a sign of human life...Accolades, however. Great job.
The bed with a dining table at the end is jarring. But the studio is stunning. I would have put a low platform bed near the window and put the living area next to the kitchen. That way you put the more private area furthest from the door. This is a beautiful apartment and very well decorated.
I wouldnt do this layout personally, but I am loving your accent wall!!
This place is stunning. I could move right in.
Totally agree with USBEK. Having said that, very beautiful space & you got my vote.
Love it! The lack of clutter makes it seem larger.
I'm always sad when I see a home where there are no books at all.
Sorry to sterile for my taste
I love your home!
I love the table at the foot of the bed - I can only assume that it's where the judges sit when Elizabeth and her man are gettin' it on.
"Well they've got a 9.5 from the Swedish judge, but oh, only a 6 from the Russian! That's really going to hurt them in the finals!"
Are there no shades to cover all those windows? On the one hand, it's very clean and modern; then again, there's no sign of life, as someone pointed out. It does look a little like a model apartment. It's nice, but a little too sparse and sterile for my tastes. But oh, so neat and clean!
Gorgeous. One of my favorites. Love how spare and simple it is, yet so classy.
Is this real....?
Confused about the table. You wouldn't really sit side-by-side with your dining companion, with a view of the bed, would you?
I am assuming the owners are out of town a lot and therefore don't have time to enjoy their space. Very hotel apartment like.
A bookcase seems an odd choice as room divider if you have nothing to put in it...
Hotel rooms show signs of life once someone checks in--even if it's just a purse on a bed. I seriously doubt Elizabeth lives here. She refers to it as "the home", not "my home" and the other comments are impersonal as well. If she does live here, I don't get the impression that she loves her home.
This should be disqualified! No one lives here.
This almost strikes me as an advertisement. Not at all what I want to see in this contest. Elizabeth certainly does not seem to live here. Though blandwagon's comment nearly made me snarf coffee out my nose, so at least it's provided some amusement!
Knock knock...anybody home?
I want to like it.. so modern and clean. but, perhaps a little too clean. makes me feel like these are some photo shoots for Elle!! lol. What motivates you to be so neat and tidy?
Does look a little suspect. Are there no dishes in the cabinets? Even when I worked all the time while living in NYC I still had personal effects ... in fact, all my work made me want the personal touches that much more.
The table looks to be a combination of legs (Vika Lerberg I think) and top (VIKA HYTTAN) from Ikea.
Elizabeth may be freakishly neat or have had a professional cleaning done before photographing this place. However, the fact that she hasn't written in to defend her style choices is a little bit suspect, as is the fact that all the items on the Expedit bookcase are non-personal.
Just to clarify, this is not a "staged home". The photos were taken before hours before move-in. The table at the foot of the bed is meant as a desk, or can pulled out for dining. The top is stainless steel from Ikea workspace, and tressel legs also Ikea.
@Elizabeth_Vaca, before move-in = staged.
Hmm, yeah. I feel like there would be an uproar if a non-lived in house won. Maybe should have waited and submitted next year?
Aside from that, it's a cool place. I agree with some other commenters though, the furniture set up is a little wonky, like a model apartment. I get the feeling that once it's lived in for a few months, some pieces might migrate around the apartment.
The more I look at these photos, the more irksome I find them. I have trouble believing clutter and storage are a problem when the shelves are all empty! I keep thinking of a Patricia Cornwell novel I once read, where the villain turned out to have terrible allergies and lived in a place with no textiles or rugs. Where are the accessories? Open the bedside drawer, so we at least can get a look at the Gideon Bible!
Why is this still up?
Even if someone did move in here AFTER the photos were taken, surely the point is to see how people LIVE in small spaces. Not how the space looks before somebody has moved in.
If I removed all of the books, cutlery and cat hair from my apartment and had a realtor come round, throw some neutral pillows on the bed, add an empty grey vase here and there, and put a fake plant in the corner, I think I could win this contest too.
@BLANDWAGON ha ha!
I LOVE the lack of clutter and the clean lines everywhere, the sleek kitchen, and the simple design. It's perfect! Wish I could favorite this ten times!
