Ellen DeGeneres & Portia de Rossi List Their Santa Barbara Villa for $45 Million

Ellen is on the move. The comedian, TV host, and designer has listed the Santa Barbara villa that she and wife, actress Portia de Rossi, bought in 2013.

Originally built in the 1930s by famed architect Wallace Frost for himself, it was inspired by his years living in Italy. Frost emulated the style of Old World villas with stone walls, a classic barrel-tiled roof, terra-cotta surfaces, wide wood flooring planks, rustic exposed ceiling beams, and 18th century Italian tile.

The 10,500 square foot home has six bedrooms, six full bathrooms and two half baths. There are also nine fireplaces, a media room, multiple libraries inside, with a variety of terraces and pools outside.

After purchasing the original estate for $26.5 million, the power couple scooped up some nearby properties as well, bringing the land area to nearly 17 acres that is described as such: “As the land rolls gently downhill, tall trees give way to a sweeping view of the Pacific and the hills beyond.”

One property was converted into the ultimate in indoor-outdoor living, a “spacious, modern entertainment pavilion known as Jordan Hall,” which has a Japanese soaking tub, its own lap pool, and a sunken tennis court.

Ellen’s had a busy 2017 so far. In addition to being a lovable and hilarious TV host, she’s cementing herself as a prolific businessperson on track to be the next Martha Stewart. Just this year, she’s released a furniture line with Thomasville, tableware with Royal Daulton, and a rug collection with Loloi, all under her ED by Ellen brand.

DeGeneres is also known for being quite the house flipper. In fact, you can easily play Six Degrees of Celebrity Real Estate and almost certainly come back to Ellen. We wonder who will snatch this place up and be the next big name to enter her real estate web.

The property is currently listed with Sotheby’s for $45 million.
