This week on Ellen's Design Challenge, we lost one more great designer (that's the nature of competitions), but really proved that anyone can go at any time.
Bradley won the first challenge, but presenting one stool instead of his intended five cost him. The catchphrase creator and king of green room commentary took the time to chat with us:
From the being the winner to going home— What were you feeling in that moment?
I was shocked; I still am shocked. But sometimes you do everything you can and you still lose.
Looking back, would you do anything differently?
That's a tough question to answer. Naturally hind-sight makes you aware of things and sometimes it tricks you into thinking you had more options than you really did. I believe that Matt and I did an amazing job. But if I could change anything I would make me the winner of the entire competition.
What will you remember most about your time on EDC?
You know what sticks with me the most? The way we were treated by the crew, the producers, Ellen, and the designers. There was nothing but respect and love going around. Sure there were matters of individual taste, but everyone on that set made me feel like I belonged there. I thank them all for that!
What’s the reception been like back home?
I have received nothing but love from my family, friends, my SCAD family and countless people who have met me through this show. I wanted to be sad, but with all the love and support I have been given I can't be sad. I am blessed beyond belief!
Has your experience on the show changed your work?
I am more confident now. I believe in my decision making and my voice. I want to show the world what contemporary American design looks like, and now I know I can.
How will we get through the remaining weeks without new Bradley catchphrases?
I will be around! I have to get back to work now with a renewed sense of purpose! But if people want to come along on that journey with me then they can catch me on Instagram: @bradleylbowers
