Right out of Harry Potter. We used to think that anything simulated was for the birds, but we have learned to appreciate a few very elegant simulations. This is the latest we have stumbled across: a simulated fireplace, called the Ellumo, and a simulated ice candle, called by its own name. We don't know if we would want to live with one yet, so lets just say we are curious.
Designed and manufactured by Artequa of Finland, these creations draw inspiration from Finland's Northern Lights and an obsession with light in a land that is often dark. The lights themselves are made with a patented Digital Living Lights Process (DLLP) technology and "high quality materials" and use regular energy-saving household bulbs. Not only are these Finns serious about their lights, they are also serious about not impacting the environment. This may be less a Las Vegas novelty and more of a new direction in futuristic energy efficient lighting. (Thanks, MoCoLoco!) MGR
