Eloise's Pretty in Pink and Blue

My Room

Name: Eloise (one year)
Location: Vancouver, BC

Eloise's dreamy bedroom is pretty in pink and blue. We used a feminine yet not overtly girly palette and have filled her room with vintage treasures and personal touches. We moved into our new house from a one bedroom condo so we were very excited for Eloise to have a room of her own (Eloise's Nook was actually a finalist in the 2011 Smaller Cooler Contest). With the exception of the Alma Mini Crib by Bloom, all the furniture in Eloise's room has been handed down or repurposed. Her change table is a dresser I found on Craigslist for $20 and repainted, the armoire is from our old bedroom and the rocking chair and wicker dresser were mine as a girl. I love being able to pass down items from my childhood like the wooden rocking horse, my favourite doll and the pretty fabric on the window valance.

Eloise's room is filled with DIY projects. I made the mobile above her crib out of scrapbooking paper hung from an embroidery hood and dressed up the top of the mosquito net with battenburg lace. The pink and blue bunting was made from fat quarters found at the quilting store and little projects like the tutu wreath, shadow box and silhouette were inspired by Pinterest.

The art on the walls was created inexpensively using Ikea frames and simple projects; the alphabet poster is a piece of wrapping paper from a trendy home decor store, the images above the change table are excepts from an Eloise book. Above the reading corner, tissue pom poms and paper lanterns add ambient light and a pop of colour.

Everything in Eloise's room is either purposeful, pretty, or both. We love spending time reading and playing with Eloise in her room and know that we've made a beautiful place for her to grow up.
