We recently sent the link to Emachine to a friend who is so mechanically gifted he could build a rocket ship if given enough time and money - he declared the site better than sex. TMI, but we now know where his wife figures into his lineup now.
If you are mechanically gifted, by that we mean taking things apart and getting all the pieces back where they are suppose to be and doing it without a manual, Emachine is the site for you.
How the site works: you download their [free] CAD software system, you draw your part, they price it based on those specs and then they machine it for you. Voile you have your very own part, accessory or whatever it is you need. They will create anywhere from 1 piece to 1,000,000 for you.
How does this relate to home you say? Imagine you can't find the perfect door knocker, or a piece of hardware for a vintage icebox that's built into your 1902 Craftsman Home... with Emachine you could fabricate your own part should you desire.
Materials can very from aluminum, stainless steel, brass, to acrylic and more. Honestly, we were dreaming of a thick acrylic table to fit into a very peculiar area in the hallway, that is if we had enough brain cells to download the CAD software to begin with. It's going to be a long haul if we want anything made.
