The last time I considered horses as décor I was about six and completely obsessed with My Little Pony. Lately, as I've been spotting the motif around the web, I've had to reconsider my childhood favorite. These interiors integrate the creatures in their most elegant form. From stunning black and white images to sculptural forms, these horses are perfectly at home in a grown-up space.

I love horses! When I was a child, my mother bought me a Breyer horse every time we went to visit my grandmother in Alabama. She played with them when she was little too, so it was fun for us to collect them together. This post has inspired me to find a cool way to display them in my home instead of keeping them in storage. Maybe on a shelf above a wide doorway?
Sahra - you mean like this: http://gallery.apartmenttherapy.com/photo/jaime-and-matts-house-tour/item/356761 ?
NEXT: Embracing a Childhood Favorite: Unicorns in Decor.
Timely post for me. I've been trying to think of a good way to incorporate a few of my old show ribbons into our decor, and I've just hauled a big box of my Breyer horses up from my childhood home. My kids are too little to play with them yet, but I was thinking I could take one or two of the more "well-loved" ones, spray them a glossy white (or other color), and put them on my mantel. I've also been looking for good, clean/graphic, large scale horse art or photographs for the walls. I've seen a few examples on AT, but usually without the source attached, as with the leopard appy print above, or this one here, which I love: http://www.houzz.com/photos/322593/Ft--Worth-Historical-Residence-traditional-dining-room-dallas . So much that I see seems to be either of the western variety, which doesn't interest me as much, or of horses that aren't the most attractive (probably photos taken by a non-horseperson), or almost cheesy calandar-esque photos that are a little too "pretty" if you know what I mean (arabians with tails flying on the beach, or at sunset, or whatnot).
Does anyone know where I can find that first spotted horse print/photograph from design sponge?
@CHRISTINACOLE -- Contact the owner; he's probably the one who took it (my guess, anyway). He's a photographer based in Atlanta, and has a website.
I found a great horse print on the internet, but cannot find the artist (won't print and hang w/o artist permission/fee). Still living with a big blank wall.
This horsey girl never grew out of the phase... although I don't have any horses on display in my tiny home. As much as I love the animal, my wall space/ display space is used for family photos and pictures of places we love. www.smallishblog.com
Shannannigans -
I knew I had seen them somewhere! Oops!
This must be an emerging trend-- I recently did a post on this from a feature that we were in in Living, etc Magazine!

So BRADY BUNCH!
As a Fine Art Equine Photographer....this is a trend that I can totally embrace! http://julietrharrison.fineartstudioonline.com/ In my own home I am surrounded by the work of my fellow equine artists as well.
The unicorns don't like you either, Ashly.
Wow, Juliet Harrison...your photographs are gorgeous. Would work perfectly in my modern home. Contacting you now...
