Palo Alto, CA
For our little girl (who was 18 months old when we adopted her), I knew I wanted a fresh, clean space that was gender neutral and that she could grow into. I originally wanted to wallpaper the wall behind her crib, but when I couldn't find exactly what I wanted, I (at the encouragement of my husband) designed and hand painted the wall.
Color Inspiration continued:
While we were waiting to meet our daughter, my amazing friends threw the most gorgeous woodland critter baby shower for me, using a very retro color palette which I LOVED, so I took various pieces from the shower to Home Depot and picked out the perfect colors for her room.
Tip for Using Color:
Don't be afraid to use colors that go against gender roles. And don't be afraid to mix multiple colors together. Find what works for you and makes you happy and go with it.
I love Behr paints from Home Depot...I used "Fresh Day" in semi-gloss for all the walls except the focal wall. For the focal wall background I used "Vintage Linen" in flat. The darker green is "Retro Avocado", the yellow is "Solar Fusion", the lighter blue is "Spring Stream", the darker blue is "Dragon Fly", the lighter green is "California Dreaming", and the brown is Ralph Lauren's "Crosby".
Thanks for your colorful entry Traci and good luck!
