- Inspiration for my palette:
- On a whim I stuck a paint chip on my preteen's wall. She hated it. The chip stayed up and a few weeks later she asked me when I was going to paint her room that cool new color. After a couple of gallons of paint and a ruthless editing of knickknacks, the purple princess palace was transformed into a cool teenage hangout.
- Colors used in my room
- Behr Spring Leaf
Behr Beauty Queen
white and black
- Tips for using color successfully
- Use color on things that are easy to change. Walls and pillows can be changed quickly and cheaply. Couches, tile, and toilets not so much....

- Citron Pop

Room for Color
This is such a cute look! And I love that dresser. Anyone know where I can find something like that?
Love the hot pink rail of peg hooks. What a great way to combine function and color!
It's a sunny meadow!
Really cute teen room. Love the peg hooks too. What a great idea for a kid's room. Also love the secretary desk and pink chair. May I ask where you found them?
I really like the emphasis on the books!
Love the green rug! And the cat ;)
Those covered hatboxes are a brilliant use of sewing scraps.....and must be hiding all those teenage 'treasures'.
Love it! My daughter now wants a new room in turquoise and lilac with black and white accents! Inspirational!
That is an extremely popular chandelier!!
Is it bad form to comment on your own entry? The desk is an old family piece covered in multiple coats of paint. I painted and recovered the thrift store chair. The dresser came from an unfinished furniture store. The pendant lamp is from IKEA and everyone uses it because it is fabulous!
Gorgeous room. 'Scuse me a moment while I laugh meself silly at this comment...

Ok, ahem, I've recovered sufficient decorum to proceed now (I think). No, it's not bad form to provide additional info & sources. You, Lady, have accomplished SOMETHING here. On behalf of all (once-up-a-time, current & future) preteen moms, I salute you.
Well done.
Lovely room, and brilliant illustration of teenager psychology!
love it!
I love this room!!!
Where did you find that rug? It's perfect in this room (and might be perfect in mine)!
It is from the IKEA summer PS collection.
