- Inspiration for my palette:
- Having lived in beige apartments for the last four years I knew I wanted to have some bold color in our first house. When we moved in, the living room had dark brown woodwork and beige walls. I chose a bright white for the trim to make the room feel lighter. Blue is my favorite color, so it was just a matter of choosing the right shade. I went a little darker with the blue than I normally would have because the white woodwork makes the whole room lighter. I brought in yellow and gray with a fun accent chair.
- Colors used in my room
- The walls are painted "Crusing" by Sherwin Williams and the woodwork and trim are painted "Alabaster," also by Sherwin Williams. The blue changes from bright and cheery during the day to jewel-toned and moody at night. Yellow, gray, and taupe are the primary accent colors.
- Tips for using color successfully
- Choose a color that you love and don't be afraid to go bold. Trust your gut and don't let others talk you out of it. The painter we hired tried to tell us to use a mocha shade on the walls and cream on the trim because that's what he did in a lot of the high-end houses in the area. I don't care what the other houses look like, I want something that makes my room a space I love being in.

The blue really makes the white pop nicely and look ... whiter. I'm curious if this bold color has any impact on your emotional state. You know, like red increases appetite or something like that.
Love it!! Blue is my favorite color and this worked really well in this space.
Love the color! Where did you get your sectional? It looks comfy...
I want to see a better picture of the chevron side table next to the chair. :)
Love the cobalt blue with white. We have this color in our bedroom and went for orange instead of the yellow to pop with it, but I love your accent color, too. When we're ready for a change, now I know we can swap in some yellow :)
EuroAmericanHome,
I was apprehensive of the color having a psychological effect on me, but so far the only thing I've noticed is that I feel happy. It's a color I love and a space I really love being in.
MYK,
The sectional is from Nebraska Furniture Mart. I believe it's by Ashley Furniture
Tracy333,
The chevron table was a DIY project, you can read more about it here:
