Q: I'm downsizing to an 800 square foot condo with an interstate move and limited funds. I'm a pack rat who's always dreamed of being a minimalist. My problem is that my things are my memories. I'll have to say goodbye to so much and close so many chapters (like giving up on my 20 year old unfinished dissertation and academic papers). Giving up my late mother's possessions, not to mention the few things I have from my dad, brings tears. I'm alone, so siblings aren't an option. Nor is a storage locker at new destination; limited funds won't cover. Any advice, emotional or practical, would be much appreciated. How would you handle all this? Many thanks.
