These tree candles from German candle maker Engels Kerzen stopped me in my tracks at Ambiente. Whether flickering with the yellowish glow of a lighted candle or hanging unlit in its white glory, these candles are eye catching. Check out more photos and details after the jump…
My first thought when I saw the Alto Tree Candle was whether it was safe. After all, it's a candle burning inside a parchment paper hanger! But, actually, the candle is inserted into a plastic orb, which is then placed in the 3-layer parchment paper lantern, keeping the flame safely away from the paper. This also gives the added bonus of being able to replace the candle once the wick has burned down so it can be used over and over.
After I took my attention off the Tree Candles, I noticed that Engels Kerzen had a breathtaking display in their booth. The way they suspended the white taper candles upside down had a stunning impact. They reminded me of icicles. And the rainbow display of colorful pillar candles affixed to the wall was mesmerizing.
The Alto Tree Candle will be available for purchase in mid-April on the Engels Kerzen website (in German).
