Without a window to the outdoors, this loft bedroom in a Stockholm studio instead boasts an enlarged photograph of Rio de Janeiro.
The photo provides the sense of expansion that as good view would normally do. The little sleeping area has other tricks up its sleeve, too. A built-in bed is turned sideways in the room that's no wider than a bed's length. And plenty of storage is to be found underneath.
In checking out the rest of the home, it's tough to believe it is only 495 square feet. With two stories, high ceilings, and every function you'd find in a much larger house, its appearance belies its tiny size. See for yourself in a full slideshow of it over at Dwell.

The photo helps that alcove seem less claustrophobic. Good choice.
nice idea
The lighting over the photograph makes a huge difference too. It adds depth and interest, making that spot appear more window-y.
Wow, what an incredibly beautiful apartment. I love everything, but most especially the tub.
I'm a photographer and sell my pictures at craft shows - a few of my images are of windows with little still life arrangements on the sills and people are always buying them for windowless nooks and offices.
