Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood is home to a tidy cache of low-key home stores, of which group Enlighten is a notable member. And if you’re wanting the soft, organic lighting of a paper lantern but more unique than the tried and true but predictable Ikea version, Enlighten may be the place for you.

Enlighten deals primarily in lamps made from natural materials such as bamboo, twigs and paper, designed and created by owner Kalan Intawong. In addition to wares of the glowing, electrical variety, the store also stocks picture frames and small teak pieces.

A complement to the retail location, the online store is pretty well stocked. Check it out here.

Nothing against Enlighten, but why are Seattle stores being written up in the San Francisco section of Apartment Therapy? I'm a newbie, so could someone clarify?
Hey stylemonkey,
Welcome to AT! AT:SF covers the Bay Area and the Pacific Northwest.
Yep, sadly, the San Francisco site is the closest thing for us Seattlites! Most of the site does focus on the San Fran area (for instance, craigslist classified posts), so it is great that every now and again there is something that applies to us up here in the rainy Pacific NW!
