On a recent Southwest Airlines flight, I read in Spirit magazine that 42% of entrepreneurs launched their first venture during childhood. This rang true for me, as a veteran of the lemonade stand, the art/craft sales in my childhood garage, the newspaper route...
What about kids today? Are yours venturing into some creative business-building territory? We'd love to hear about some modern, self-directed enterprises that are off the old-school grid (see my list above).

Not exactly self-directed, but I saw some Girl Scouts set up right next to the ATM. That's a very smart location decision.
Sunkist Lemonade has offered stands for charity for the last few years. My now 10 year old ordered one with my help and has hosted a stand for Ethiopian Orphan Relief, Inc. a few times over the last two summers. He loves making money, even if it isn't for him.
