We found this article in the New York Times on the cost of shipping groceries around the world very thought-provoking, and wanted to share it with you.
posted originally from: AT:KitchenOne of the core points of The Kitchn mission is to buy local, sustainable food. It isn't always easy to make good choices when we're offered so many - a simple trip to the grocery store can leave you "lost in the supermarket" as Barry Schwartz explained in The Paradox of Choice. It's easy to lose sight of what is important when we really want that ice fish imported from Japan, those plums from Chile in December, and the creamy butter from Ireland. We must remember the consequences of our choices.
And so we leave you with this quote:
You must be the change you wish to see in the world. -Mahatma Gandhi.
