With Earth Day just past, we've still been thinking about how to save the planet—or rather, how to get our kids to save the planet. Luckily, there's a great DVD that can explain global warming to your 4 - 14 year old, so we can leave it all to them.

Simon Says Let's Stop Climate Change features the animated characters from Hippo Works, created by animator Denis Thomopoulos. The animals teach kids about the issues surrounding climate change and offer suggestions for getting involved. And these lessons are no child's play; the DVD includes sections on Global Warming, the Greenhouse Effect, the Food Chain, Carbon Footprints, the "Three Rs" (Reducing, Reusing, Recycling), Composting, and Carbon Offsetting. Far from simply presenting the problem, the creators provide proactive, empowering ideas that kids can engage in to get involved, from planting a tree to recycling to hosting a bake sale fundraiser. Many of the issues are presented in song, so you can expect the lessons to sink in Schoolhouse Rock style.

The DVD also comes with supplemental materials, including a wall poster and an entire teaching handbook.

Available at Amazon for $17.99.
