Unique artistry and sustainable, environmentally friendly design collide in the essential yet unglamorous world of shower curtains. You may think that creativity stops at the bathroom door but this social and environmentally conscious product will bring about a change of mind.
The Ty D.I.Y. Edition Recyclable Shower Curtain is made from 100% High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) – one of the most commonly recycled plastics and PVC free. Unlike your traditional vinyl shower curtain, which contains 108 volatile organic compounds, Ty is stronger, will not tear and will not off-gas. Because this material breathes it is less likely to harbor mildew and mold as well.
Express your inner graffiti artist with the attached permanent marker (best if you draw on the shiny side). What a great place for your houseguests to leave messages, or your kids to doodle, or for you to jot down those early morning thoughts of brilliance you have in the shower!
When you are finished with your artistic masterpiece you can cut off the metal grommets and recycle it locally. Grain Design, the Bainbridge Island-based design team behind this cleaver idea, has additional information about how to keep this item completely out of the landfill.
Grain Design is a design collaborative that started in 2007 at the Rhode Island School of Design and migrated to the Northwest with the philosophy of creating sustainable designs while keeping positive social values. One percent of Grain Design’s sales are donated to environmental causes.

lol! AWESOME! Just one Q: how's this any different frm buying a sharpie and a white shower curtain at Walmart?
LOLCAT SEZ: SUMWAN DIDN FINK DIS THRU
Well, seeing that Walmart is the devil and these guys are so clearly not, that's the difference (among the recyclable and 100% HDPE factors.) ;)
How do you know? Do you live with them? How do you know they use the profits to travel to Lithunia and drop puppies off bridges!? It's silly to blame big corporations for what we end up buying. There are organic and recyclable options at Walmart/ Target/ Kmart, etc... if people that are 'ever so concerned' about the environment and believe small businesses are the one and only savior bought 'the good sh*t' from the big guys, they'd allow those small businesses to GROW for everyone's benefit. But no... it seems like a stupid choice to spend 35 bux (after shipping) for something that could've come from the same company for less than 10 and could've been conveniently picked up locally. Instead they're wasting more oil via air/parcel... but of course, that's GREEN. BULL-KING-PUCKEY!
wow DJlucky - you sure are negative. it's actually considered "green" to order online and have things shipped. because ups, your postman, fed ex are already making the trip it ends up being better than one person driving to the store alone.
on top of that, just because something from target, walmart or a mom & pop says it's "organic" doesn't mean it is. the best part about this particular mom & pop item is the big fact that the business is socially responsible. we know target & walmart are not by just a quick read of the past year or two of news articles on their business practices. too bad you'd rather spew nasty words.

I did this with the sharpie and plastic shower curtain a few years ago.

Haven't recycled it yet because I'm still using it.
While I do like that it can be recycled i suggest getting a fabric shower liner instead. I love that when mine starts looking like it could use a cleaning that i can just whip it off to the washing machine. You can only wash the plastic ones a few times before they have to be replaced.
Actually, Walmart has become far more eco-friendly.
@ggsix, go buy more 33 dollar shower curtains then.
@caitlinmarie, thank you... I know if we keep voting for better products with how we shop everyday, we can all change the big picture for the good of everyone instead of a single overpriced 'mom and pop' store.
what a great idea! a very cool product!
dj - i never said i had paid that. you keep missing the point, its too bad.
