At Unplggd, we pride ourselves of trying to go wireless, as much as possible. That's why we think that wireless iPod docks are really great. They cut down on wires and enable you to do even more cable management. The fun thing with this new dock is that it allows you to pair more than 2 satellite speakers. From what we've read, you can even control and stream your music wirelessly while sitting on you couch playing with your iPhone.
Michael Young has designed a few really great looking projects. He has design practices in Iceland, the UK and Asia and works on a wide range of projects, from interior spaces, to transportation and electronics as well as architecture. The one that we really like is his iPod dock, which is wireless. That's the kind of dock that we like here at Unplggd. But that's not all. These speakers look like their are sculpted. They remind us of a mix between a vase and a lamp, they stand out wherever they are put down. On top of that, no wires!
This dock was created in collaboration with EOps. The i24R3 wireless speaker system works with satellite speakers and a big subwoofer, which doubles as a dock. The base has air holes for ventilation and is also able to sense movements that will allow you to operate its controls. The set is made from pure white gloss and includes an aluminum casing. The system includes a wireless USB audio transmitter dongle that allows you to even stream music from your computer via iTunes. This allows you to control the system remotely via your computer from anywhere in the house. Naturally the dock can also be paired as an extra set of speakers for your computer.
This dock has so many features, yet looks so minimal and elegant. The only issue is that the price hasn't been announced. Our guess is that it will cost a few hundred bucks and it's going to be available in early 2009. [via Designboom]
