Erika’s Colorful Yet Simply Stated Bedroom

Erika Hokanson, originally from California, moved to New York four years ago to pursue her career in photography. After a few rooms for rent, she's finally found refuge in a quite large (by New York City standards) studio apartment. Her home is not minimalist nor modern - it’s very welcoming and warm, featuring displays of the most valuable and important items to her daily life.During my recent visit, she explained that she just painted the accent walls green, but is still unsure of the color choice. Her entire bedroom/living space is filled of thrift store, vintage antiques and a few subtle Ikea pieces. She keeps a full home of photography gear, collectables and a cool collage of photos over her desk, but the vaulted ceilings and windows lend to a nice airy feeling, helping this apartment to feel more like a loft, and less like a shoe box.
