Erin Fetherston is a young fashion designer with one of the most beloved new brands in recent years, and her whimsical home overlooking the Hudson River combines the romantic French finds from her previous life with modern choices indicative of her new station in New York.

The high ceilings and tall windows in the renovated Tribeca loft lend themselves well to both styles. Fetherston sticks to a pastel color palette and girly flourishes to create a space that is relaxing, but upon closer inspection you can always find something unusual in any vignette, from a stuffed sheep to plastic hand molds. It is this balance between pretty and interesting that makes all of Fetherston's work noteworthy, including her interior designs.

I was looking at this room, thinking, oh! If I were rich, I would have a room just like that... and then I noticed the sheep?
the color on the walls in the first picture is really nice
This is totally my style. I MUST know that paint color in her living room.
I like the sheep. I wonder if it is ventage Omersa (maybe from the British country range - but the current sheep look less shaggy). Anyone know?
Gorgeous!
YES - living room paint color please please
Any guesses as to why she's standing on her tippy-toes?
I love that sheep! It reminds me of the rocking sheep by Povl Kjer: http://www.craftscollection.dk/grouping/view/189
I've been drooling over that one for a while now but is reluctant to buy a rocking horse since I don't have kids. So the one in th picture would be a great substitute but I don't think it's Omersa as far as I can google their animals are furless.
rapunzel..lol, i was thinking the samething...like she needs to...sighh...
Did anyone see the pictorial on her old apartment in Paris? It was in Domino several years back, and it involved some really amazing and exotic antiques (like a throne!). Really over-the-top, but with that cool California-meets-old-world-Europe vibe, and a very intelligent use of color and texture. I think she's brilliant.
Sigh. So lovely.
I like the screen in the bedroom (because I have always fancied Chinoserie) but that's about it.
celt-grrrl - that's exactly what I remembered - the Paris apartment. It was much funkier.
She definitely has her finger on the Parisian aesthetic. Plus I LOVE that vintage birdcage with stand - I have been looking for one that didn't cost a billion dollars.
Add me to the list of people who LOVE that wall color.
Incidentally, she's standing on her tiptoes because she's in fashion and she knows it lengthens her legs and shows her muscle tone. ;-)
I have a very close color paint in my living room with creamy white wainscot.
I used BM color- Gray Cashmere. When you see the color on the chip it appears to be more green than blue but when its up on the wall its more blue. I tried three similar colors and this was the one that I fell in love with. It will depend on your exposure but in my room it looks almost the same as the picture.
There is another color that is similar that I love but was not going to spend the money on is Farrow & Ball- color Dix Blue its lovely too.
I love her apartment but I feel the furniture got a little too match match, just needs a one or two pieces to break up the French Provincial feeling going on.
I feel like I saw that sheep in an anthropologie, or one of their magazines in the past year... but I could just be making that up.
looks exactly like my wall color....Buxton Blue.
I love the simplicity of the design of the dining area - the table and the chairs are perfectly proportioned, I think.
I assumed she was standing like that so her face could be framed by the blue wall between the windows without the photographer having to compromise his shot of the decor.
The point is that you do NOT have to be rich to
be ELECTIC. Now it does take style sense and an eye but in the land of Curb Side Heaven (NYC!)
and a very fewpurchased pieces you can do this-------I have and I live in Michigan!
I am not good at paiting and the grunt work. Most of the time you must start with a clean palette and some killer colors which doesn't mean over powering!
Hey, sorry for the misspelling stuff!!
It's ECLECTIC/painting/!
She has to stand on her tip toes to keep her arms straight for a streamlines silouette. The place is truly lovely, and she makes a fitting accessory.
Like her clothing designs, this space evokes an etheral feeling mixed with vintage done in a modern way and a bit of quirkiness. I love it.
The sheep is wonderful...
I didn't realize she was so thin, I suppose she is usually wearing very floaty dresses with dolman or full sleeves so I was a bit surprised at the first sheet. She is quite beautiful.
Lovely! If I didn't know this was Fetherston's place I'd imagine a girl wearing Erin Fetherston living there! Very much in sync with her design aesthetic in general. Gorgeous.
Another color I think is kinda similar is Sherwin Williams Sea Salt. I got a sample of it on my living room wall now.
Or Glidden Gentle Tide....
One last one-lol-Wythe Blue by Benjamin Moore
The sheep looks a lot like the work of claude and Frncois Lalanne. http://rositakerdlarppol.blogspot.com/2010/03/my-favourite-things-les-lalanne.html I created a life sized fluffy sheep sculpture as well -

Enjoy!
Yay, shoes off in the home! :D
... Restoration Hardware feels a little like this, recently, though the scale here is non-ridiculous. XD
