What I Love About My Small Home:
The hours between 4 pm and 5 pm when it's bathed in sunlight. It's a tiny spot, squeezed between much larger apartments, and we're fairly certain that somewhere along the way, it was actually someone's closet. Kidding aside, we really love the place -- not only for its proximity to some of the best cocktails Brooklyn has to offer, but also because it's clean and cozy and shockingly easy to live in.
Biggest Challenge of Living in a Small Space:
Our biggest challenge has been finding a way to keep such a tiny space feeling bright and breezy. We're (royally spoken) clutter-phobes and a space like this can get overwhelmed pretty quickly, especially when it needs to house an 8 foot surfboard. We stay sane by making use of dressers and crates to stash things that don't need to be out in the open. The tiny loft where we sleep can still feel a bit cramped, but on the bright side, our diving skills have improved tenfold since that's the only real way to get into bed. We're not allowed to paint, but we've come to like the bright white. It keeps the space fresh feeling. And yes, we even appreciate our oak cabinets, though don't you agree they'd look better with a coat of slate blue? Please, tell our landlord.
