A Thai tree grows in MePa. Adding to the gaggle of unique and super chic home stores, Establishment just opened its doors this fall on Gansevoort street. The store is the creation of Ungkun Chanasvangwonk, an interior designer who has realized his dream in being able to showcase his own design as well as that of contemporary designers from his native Thailand:

...a treasure-trove of young, fresh design talent, many of whom have trained in the best European and American design schools and returned home to create a viable design industry in Thailand.

The look at Establishment is modern-organic and contemporary in styling, with pillows, low tables, bowls and artwork made out of lush, natural materials. If you are into minimalism with a Thai twist, Ungkun's new shop is for you. Our particular favorite (thinking gifts) are the carved marble stone lamps (above) which give off the most remarkable light.

CoolHunting says: His products reflect his passion for traditional Thai designs expressed with a modern sensibility.
