One of our friends has a guest bathroom in her apartment, and it has the perfect size nook for a tall etagere. She uses it to store extra towels and bath supplies. If you have enough space, an etagere can function as a perfect catch-all in the bath or kitchen.
Here are four options, of varying styles:
• 1 Newbury Grand (Wide) Etagere, $599 at Restoration Hardware
• 2 Molger, $49.99 at Ikea
• 3 Peterson Bath Tower, $298 at Crate and Barrel
• 4 InterMetro Tower, $144.90 at The Container Store
• 5 Obelisk Etagere, $54.99 at Amazon

Shaw's Original Fir...
Yes, given the space constraints these shelves are a good idea. However, I reiterate a comment already made about other shelving -- the result is as cool as the stuff you already have and how you keep it. In other words, if you have less than fluffy towels of a larger size and objets inherited or received as gifts to decorate with, your shelves will not look as cool and beautiful as these here. And sigh! My stuff is never as pretty or new or decor-worthy as that seen in these types of pictures :(
The last one looks similar to the IKEA Lerberg shelves, which I have 2 of and LOVE - http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/90114752
Much more affordable at $15 a pop!
How timely..I have been researching these towers for my bathroom renovation - I am not that tidy or organized, but, I am going to put large baskets on a couple of the shelves so I can hide the things that I don't want anyone to see and display the things that I love..
Yeah they look nice when they're shiny and new. But for me, they're definitely a catch-all for dust and water spots. Just one more thing to clean in the bathroom!
We have the IKEA molger one in our bathroom. It's not that difficult te keep tidy. We put baskets in it for our stuff, we each have our own basket and there's an extra for shared items. On the top shelf I keep glass jars with cotton balls etc. And some pretty candels. And on the second top shelf, we keep pretty white towels rolled up.
I love it!
In the UK we call them tallboys.
Nice, but #1 the Restoration Hardware one is waaaaay too expensive!!!
I am SO tired of trying to buy one of these! I need one for my bathroom because there is no storage space (other than the windowsill) but the medicine cabinet mirror overlaps the wall space above the toilet...and it overlaps exactly where pretty much every single over-toilet standing shelf would reach! Every single one I've found that goes over the toilet is over 53 inches. I need one LESS than that! Gah!
And yes, there is no other place in the bathroom for a shelf. And no, you can't pile things on the toilet tank because it's not flat! Can't hang a shelf on the wall, not my house...
Sorry for the rant. lol.
