We recently enjoyed a weekend getaway in a rented home in New Buffalo, Michigan. The house was great but it had nothing on this vintage oven/stove!
Recessed into the cabinetry, the antique appliance hides away when not in use but where in the world are the burners...?
Thanks to this brochure, we found out that this unique contraption is a Frigidaire Flair from the '60s. We love the old school styling but the best part of encountering this dinosaur is that it still works! We baked a cake and used the stovetop for late morning eggs.

The "Roll-To-You Cooking Top" is actually tucked inside the appliance, much like a keyboard tray hides within a desk. Just hit the release button and pull it out for full simmering capabilites.

That was Samantha's stove in Bewitched! Was an episode!
That would be amazing for universal design / accessible kitchens... I wonder if anyone still makes one like that...
I think if I had to use the oven and stovetop at the same time, I'd get severely burned....but pretty neat idea.
Crazy! I could use extra counter space like that.
What are those crazy bottles over the cupboards? Ceramic? Fimo over glass? they're cool.
Oh my gosh! That was the stove in my house growing up in the 80's! I had totally forgotten about it until I saw that first picture. I had no idea our house was so retro cool :) I remember we'd have to let it cool before we "put it away" and how my mom was constantly tell us to "stop playing with the stove!" Ha! Thank you for the flash-back!
Wow! That stove is totally groovy!
Oh my gosh, my grandma has that exact stove!!! It's so cool to see it here!
Theres one of these with a storage thing underneath for sale at a local antique shop for around $600 dollars if I remember correctly.
No room in my house for it, but the sliding out range thing is awesome and I really wish I could buy the thing.
I bought an end table on Craigslist and when I went to pick it up at a cool 1960s house, the owners had one of these. I'd never seen one before, so they happily showed it off. Theirs was a standalone model -- the stove/oven unit sat on a base cabinet with turquoise panels and chrome legs.
I would absolutely buy this if these were available now.
the font alone would make me keep it in my house. the fact that it works is a huge bonus!
My friends have one of these in their house - the exact same model shown here - but they are embarrassed about it and always seem uncomfortable when people ask questions. Maybe if they see the positive reactions here they will learn to have a little pride ; )
I saw something pretty identical to this in a local thrift store, but I think it was a free-standing unit, not a built-in... I'm in an apartment so I have no use for it and I don't even know if it works, but it was pretty cool to look at.
How fun!
I'm jealous... I love getting away to New Buffalo!
OMG! That's the exact model I grew up with in my parent's home! Ours sat on top of a turquoise painted metal cabinet for pots & pans storage.
I have a freestanding one of those in my kitchen!
I'm pretty sure this is the stove (or a similar version of it) that's in my grandma's kitchen in Texas. I'm sure she has been using it since it was brand new. It looks so classy.
I have the freestanding version as well, and I love it!
The stove at Kentucknob, a Frank Lloyd Wright house in Pennsylvania, has a similar stove. The docent of my tour of the house said that the design was discontinued because so many people closed the stoves before the burners were cool (fire fire fire).
Saw one of those on an HGTV show recently; I think it was Hidden Potential.
I had one of theses at my house... except it was better.
It was GAS!
Loved it.
Heavy as an ox, tho... so it didn't make the move with me.
