Sometimes it takes a serious flash of creativity to find a green solution to an everyday problem.

Case in point: You need some bookends -- but you don't want to buy anything new.

You could try 1453 Designs's solution and craft a pair of whimsical bookends out of found objects. These assemblages look like they were crafted out of vintage cameras, dominoes, ceramic knick knacks, and other odd parts. They're $75 for the pair.
