DimmalimmHome is a mother/daughter team from Iceland (which, for some reason, makes us love these even more!) who are third and fourth generation dressmakers now based out of Los Angeles. They have designed these beautiful coasters for wine glasses that simply slip on to the bottom of the glass, that are available on Etsy for $24 per set. The Hibiscus and Citrus designs are fantastic, and we absolutely love the color selections! Kudos for an inventive idea pulled off in a super cute way!
Wine charms are well and good, and do the job at deciphering between people's glasses, but we've never been huge fans. If you're working with stemmed wine glasses, allow us to introduce this option that we just recently discovered: slip-on coasters!

Shaw's Original Fir...
I like this. I'm a fan of felt and I'm a fan of people not being able to avoid having to use a coaster.
Another fun thing to attach to glass stems are fall leaves, with the drinker's name on them, I just posted on that today...http://www.modernests.com
Great idea...and pretty too!
No, no, no. This is the beverage equivalent of having toilet paper stuck to the bottom of your shoe.
Frickin' adorable. Makes me want to throw a party JUST so that I can buy some!
These are super cute! I like the whimsical feel to them, and I like them more than the charm-like versions of drink tags.
These are really cute. And especially useful for coaster freaks like me who insist on always using a coaster.
Pretty and practical, I love these!
I am a coaster freak AND a felt freak. But I hate wine charms. These are adorable and would make a great gift.
I do think these are cute, but my husband made good point: Wine glasses don't really need coasters. If the wine sweats, it's up on the top, rarely would it get to the bottom. They should be marketed as glass markers, not coasters!
i have some of these that are vintage linen. from the 1950s i think. i have never used them for the purpose they were made for because i think they are like having toilet paper stuck to your shoe too, but for wine glasses.
Robyn- That's exactly why I planned on chiming in: Wine glasses don't sweat, so they don't need coasters. But sibce you said it, I won't.
I'll just say that they look stupid.
From my experience, the wine glasses don't sweat, as other commenters have pointed out.
However, when drinkers are less than careful (especially at a crowded party) a full glass can slosh a bit and run down the stem to the base. These would help remedy that, as long as they are washable.
I think regular coasters which are heavy enough to not stick to the bottom of tumblers (and lift then fall!) are the better solution. Tumblers sweat. These wouldn't fit onto anything other than stemware, so are more limited in use. Plus, one drizzle of red wine and they are probably junk, or at least permanently stained. Initeresting idea, but not practical.
I remember making felt slip on coasters during the holidays as a child. glitter glue = good times
@SherryBinNH: They are completely washable and do not stain permanently if you treat the stain soon enough. If you leave it on for a considerable time without treating it (days or weeks) you are stuck with the stain but that is pretty much the case with all fiber based products. We tested this as well as other things before we launched the product. It is actually quite practical :-)
@Jennifer: Thats amazing! I wish I could see them, we actually had not seen felt coasters of the slip on kind before we tried.
@Mikroma: I would really love to see your vintage coasters. Do you know of anyone who carries them or something similar?
There are some really interesting comments on this thread, I must say the TP comment totally cracked me up. To each his own huh? Thankfully there is quite a variety of products available for wine drinkers on the market so no one is stuck with anything. These are not intended to pick up sweat, they are meant to catch drops and spills exactly as Allison said, and serve as a wine tag at the same time as Robyn said. And are marketed as both :-)
Personally I am not very frilly, I tend to go for super simple and modern lines. But I find myself using one every time I have a glass of wine even when there is just one other person around because I get a funny kick out of getting to play dress up with my wine glasses. They slip on - they also slip off.
these are amazing..but they do not look like they are made from the felt I know...hmmmmm can't get my head around this material...looks very stiff...not like felt. I just love these1
